Mike Daley

I am an "Old/Newbie" potter who is re-discovering the wonderful world of pottery. My first ceramic art teacher, Dick Ketelle, (who is still going strong!!!) was my first mentor and taught me the basic concepts and the patience needed to master the wheel.  After a forty year "sabbatical" (my work and career got in the way) I re-discovered clay.  I have been exploring the various clay bodies and glazes and working on concept and design.  My work consists of functional as well as artistic pieces and I share the love of designing and creating forms and "playing in the mud"!!!   The pieces that I have created are finally beginning to take on a form and style of their own and I know now that one never stops learning new and creative things.

My pottery has been shown at the Lincoln Arts Gallery during the Feats of Clay, various juried shows at Placer Arts Gallery in Auburn, the juried show at Lincoln Library (through the Placer Arts League) and the Blue Line Gallery in Roseville.  One of my recent works, “Circling Fishes” (a collabrative piece with Linda Moon) was selected Best of Show, Best in Category and First Place at the Gold Country Fair in Auburn.  Two additional submissions won a Second and Third place ribbon as well.

If you have any questions about anything related to my pottery, I can be contacted at 916-474-0910 or CLICK HERE to send Mike an email.
